Children and Young People / VOX

NYFVO - working together with the VCS organisations who work with the Children and Young People of North Yorkshire

As part of its ongoing commitment to the VCS Organisations working with the Children and Young People of York and North Yorkshire the North Yorkshire Forum for Voluntary Organisations will:

• support the engagement of the VCS in North Yorkshire with Integrated Youth Support (IYS)
• co-ordinate the VOX network and work to establish two new VCS networks for groups who work with children, providing support to VCS representatives selected from these networks as members of the Children and Young Peoples Strategic Partnership Board
• support the implementation of the Children’s Workforce Development strategy, ensuring that the VCS organisations are able to access opportunities for training and development of their staff and volunteers.

This work will be done through a new post - the Children and Young Peoples VCS Network Development Officer. 

Over the next few months one of the first tasks will be to set up 2 additional networks to VOX (The Voluntary youth Organisations eXchange) - to cover age ranges 0-5, 5-12.  These new networks will provide a mechanism to help facilitate information sharing and communication for the VCS working with Children and Young People and also to facilitate information sharing between the CYPSB and the VCS as well as provide a means to have influence on Children and Young Peoples issues.

VOX is the current network for voluntary youth organisations which brings them together to provide a stronger voice and resource of knowledge and experience in representing the voluntary youth sector in York and North Yorkshire.

Looking forward
There will be a lot happening over the next few months; the Annual VOX Conference and the launch of the Forum’s new website for Children and Young People to name but two, so watch this space….
