Community Accounting
The aim of a Community Accounting Service is to improve the sustainability of voluntary and community organisations through improving knowledge and understanding of voluntary and community organisation finances.
It is a flexible resource that works to suit the needs of the voluntary sector and provides training, advice and support in relation to accounting matters, procedures and financial management, together with help and guidance on statutory requirements.
The CANNY project consists of a network of Community Accounting Services based throughout the York & North Yorkshire region and aims to develop the ability of VCS organisations to manage their money more efficiently and effectively, thus enabling those organisations to better attain the objectives that they were set up to achieve.
We offer free help and advice over the telephone (or email), a range of information resources and guidance, our free computer based accounts package (VYCOUNT), training courses and a tailored one-to-one training service (which can even be delivered in your own premises). There really is something to suit everyone!
CANNY also offers an affordable Accounts Preparation and Independent Examination service to voluntary organisations. We help to ensure accounts are prepared in line with Charity Commission directions and are produced in a format that is not only clear and easy to understand, but also ready to file with your annual return.
CANNY is here to provide practical help and assistance, on a range of finance related subjects all delivered to the same high standards expected by the private and commercial sector but with a voluntary sector focus.
CANNY can help with:
• preparation and Independent Examination of accounts
• financial procedures
• cash flow management
• budgeting
• internal controls
• health checks
• trustee responsibilities
• basic charity bookkeeping
• full cost recovery
