Equalities Conference, 23 March, York

The Equalities Bill is a very comprehensive piece of legislation that seeks to consolidate a wide range of statutes on discrimination and to extend  initiatives  to promote equality. It is planned that by the end of March the Bill will have completed its passage through Parliament.


The Conference seeks to provide an up to date introduction to the Equalities Bill and to look at some of the key  issues that  voluntary and community sector organisations in York and North Yorkshire will need to address in the coming months.

Speakers include:
- Khalida Asrafi, Equalities and Human Rights Commission
- Nathan Combes, Harrowells LLP

The day will provide an opportunity to attend a range of workshops on a variety of topics including:
- Equality and Procurement
- Tribunal Approaches to Disability Discrimination
- Promoting and Protecting Minority Interests
- Managing Sex Discrimination
- Faith and Belief and the Equalities Act

The conference is being held at the Priory Street Centre in York, and takes place from 10am (registration is from 930am) until 4pm. Closing date for bookings is Tuesday 16 March.
