NYSP (North Yorkshire Strategic Partnership)

The role of the NYSP is to promote the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of North Yorkshire's communities. To achieve this it takes as its focus the Sustainable Community Strategy for North Yorkshire 2008/18 and the linked Local Area Agreement 2008/11, which set out key priorities and targets to achieve the vision of making North Yorkshire an even better place in which to live, work and visit.

The Sustainable Community Strategy for North Yorkshire 2008/18 launches the NYSP’s long-term vision for how the County will develop and improve, and focuses its ambitions on ten priority areas such as community safety and the environment. The Strategy has been published alongside the NYSP’s Local Area Agreement 2008/11; a three-year plan developed locally with NYSP partners such as the District Councils and the Police and agreed by central government. The Local Area Agreement turns the Strategy’s aims into specific targets to bring about the improvements to services and quality of life sought by local communities, includin

●          increasing the amount of affordable housing available;
●          reducing the fear of crime; and
●          improving educational attainment amongst young people
